The Midnight Solar Eclipse of 1 June, 2011, in Sweden |
I had to go to the most northern part of Sweden to watch this partial eclipse of the Sun. Close to the village of Karesuando, there is a mountain Kaarevaara, accessible via a dirt road. It has a 360 degree clean horizon miles, miles away. No trees, no mosquitos, no wind and Midnight Sun! |
||
The maximun phase. And the weather has improved. No thin, high clouds that were a worry in the beginning of the event. |
||
The rim of the Sun was very colourful due to the low elevation of the Sun. |

The pictures are captured with an afocally DSLR mounted to a birdspotting telescope. | ||
