  Loading Files

One may receive a file whose filename includes a slash / .
This means that the file is to be loaded into a directory in a RAM which
has the name that precedes the / . E.g. a file RACE to go in a
directory TIPS would come to you as TIPS/RACE.

If you are likely to receive or create more files to be grouped with this
one then you should create a directory for them, i.e. in the selected RAM
type <>CD and enter the name for the sub-directory - in this case - TIPS .

This name will appear in the main RAM directory, in small capitals. To go
to this sub-directory you simply put the cursor on it and press SHIFT and
the DOWN arrow. To return to the main directory use SHIFT and the UP
  arrow.

If however you only want this particular file and are not likely to need a
sub-directory then, after fetching the file from the EPROM i.e with <>EF,
you would type TIPS/RACE and press Enter. This name would now appear
on the second line. Deleting TIPS/ and Entering will cause file RACE to
  go into the main directory.

In the case of files received from the Z88 Software Library you will need
to delete /LIBRARY/ from the second line. Of course, if you want to give
the file a name instead of a number then you just delete the whole of the
entry in the second line, type in your chosen filename and ENTER.

  The One Meg Flash EPROM.

Absolutely the best add-on that has ever been produced for the Z88. Can't
be much doubt that if this had been available while the Z88 was still
"alive" it would still be so today.

Imagine having 1 Meg of storage ! The vast majority of users would never
fill it. No need for large RAMs - any file can be recovered from the
  FlashEPROM in a few seconds.

Back-up ? If you feel you must have copies of files you save to this
medium and you don't have a disc drive and can't save them to another
computer then you could have a second FlashEPROM - at only £59 each they
  are by no means expensive.

I only have one criticism, brought about by its very size - it is not easy
to see what is in there. It can be catalogued on screen but only seven
files at a time. Here's what you can do to obtain a printout of the files
  you have saved :-

  1. Go to the FlashEPROM but before pressing `C' to Catalogue, type []+S
  2. When scrolling is complete, type []-S to clear the CLI.
  3. Go to Pipedream and load :*/s.sgn as Plain Text.

You now have all your files on screen. The list may be a little untidy,
with more than one file per line occassionally but this is easily put
right. Then do a Sort <>SO before splitting a long list into columns.
You may, if you don't have a great number of files, use the same method to
get a list at the Filer - select CATALOGUE EPROM before using []+s .
You won't get the sizes of the files, as you do with the first method.
