Dear Sir,

In Sweden there is an impending new law that will make it illegal to use lead in ammunition by the year 2007. At present there is no substitution ammunition for the calibers .177 (4.5mm), .22 (5.6 mm), or .32. There is only ammunition for 9 mm, as far as I know.
Do you have any plans to, or present development of, lead free ammunition for these calibers (.177, .22 and .32)?
To what extent do you think that it is possible to develop ammunition in these calibers without using lead?

Best regards,

Arne Nohlberg

At this time our emphasis on lead free ammunition has concentrated on those
rounds most commonly used in law enforcement for their training needs in
indoor ranges. We have not, at this time developed lead free in the smaller
cartridges. I am passing your message on to our Engineering people to make
them aware of the requirements there, and what I expect will be an
increasing demand for such rounds throughout the world.

Thanks for writing.

Dear Mr. Nohlberg,
indeed we are searching for a substitute material for lead. But this will take time and we don´t want to make advertisement with bullets and pellets
which have no lead on the one side but on the other side bad accuracy.
If we found this material we will built indeed the whole range of bullets.
In that case we will make advertisement in the net and in the magazines and news.

Arne,

We have no leadfree products available for the calibers you mentioned. If you mean .177 and .22 as airgun pellets, such products have been
around for years .

Dear Mr. Arne Nohlberg
I refer to your e-mail dated March 12,2004
I would like to inform you that we were informed about the impedning new law concerning lead in ammunition.
A substitution of lead in ammunition is not easy because of balistic properties. Our developments
are at the beginning.
best regards

Dear Sir.

Thank you that you are interested in our cartridges.
It is for us well known that in Sweden it will be from the year 2007 the
lead ammunition illegal. We are working on various systems of lead free
ammunition and this development isn't still finished. There are many
possibilities of solution. That is similar problem as non toxic shot.
Sincerely your

Hykel, Sellier & Bellot.

Greetings

Nothing is impossible if the market for it is there. We already offer lead
free ammo in some calibers to Law Enforcement. Our Rifle hunting loads with
the Barnes Triple Shock X bullet is also lead free.
