Brazilian Nat's 2001 at Monza Automodelismo

G-7 Light

This means one motor only. Single, Quad and Six mag. Motors were allowed.
We did not do any qualifying and the computer decided into which "main" that we would go.
The total results would be calculated by comparing the laps of both main.

Main B started first and had to run the track to good for the main A L

Lane change was like normal but for those who was not sure or not familiar there were sign telling how it should be done (it should be like this everywhere).

Among the drivers in that main B Gugu and Lasse were present and Gugu won before Lasse.

Main B stared in a much higher pace than main B had run and if they had been able to go on like that the first six drivers had probably occupied the first six places also in the combined results.
As often is, the start of a race does not say anything of the end. The pace fell and the high pace earlier paid negative in the end were only few people had cars running. Since they were 9 drivers in this main, round robin, it was hard to know the outcome until the race was over. It looked clear that Bambi would win and Gugu to become second and that was also how the outcome were. Third place went to Lasse who suffered worn out brushed for the last four heats. Norba looked set to take third place until he, in his last heat, ran out of brushed also.

This was my first G-7 8*5 minutes main with only one motor. Factors that decided the results were if the brushes would last. Another issue was crashing and breaking magnets, which some drivers suffered. I was surprised to see how fast it was possible to go with one motor only.

From left to right: Lasse Åberg 3:rd. Bambi 1:st and Gugu 2:nd place.

The race director was fast in switching the power off on the straight. One reason could be that he had an extremely good position to be able to see what was going on since he was sitting above the bank facing towards top turn.

Artur the race director.

Then it was evening and we racers went back to the pits building for the G-27 race tomorrow and Antonio, the track owner, had so sit out waiting the we finally should go home for the day.
While sitting he watched one of the many Brazilian "soap" operas.
