SSC Kvällsrace

Monday, race evening. It was the 25:th of March and time for some Saloon racing.
It is only one week ago since the last race was but due to a holiday in Sweden next Monday that race were raced already now.

The field consisted of 17 drivers and the track was newly prepared after the track had been used the previous day for a birthday party.

Qualifying, again, became fast. No new lap record but close. The qualifying winner, again, Micke Eskilsson won 8/1000 of a second in front of Rickard Lundh.

A nice surprise, Peter Malmberg, on his first race, fourth place in the qualifying. It was no fluke. He had the day before been down to 4.11 during testing.

It was very tight between places 5 to 9 that would go to the fastest A semi.

Quarters

As always it was tight. To reach the Main A you had to drive 149 laps. Compare that just a few weeks ago when 140 was enough or just a few month back when 130 were good enough.
This time you had to drive 133 to reach the Main B.

Main B

In the main B "Lunkan" and Kihlén took an early high pace but for a time it was Enköpings Ove Halvarsson who had the lead.

Tires. Lunkan lost one and Peter had them spinning a few times.
In the latter part of the Main Torgny took the lead and held it to the end.

1. Torgny Lundmark 223.70
2. Leif Boman 220.80
3. Torbjörn Lundkvist 215.40
4. Hans Kihlén 208.40
5. Ove Halvarsson 206.20
6. Peter Malmberg 195.20

Main A

Lars Åberg took an early lead but already in the second heat many times winner Rickard Lundh and Anders Lattermann stormed through. In the third heat Mats Hummel, last time winner, also closed in to the battle. Rickard went into the lead in the fourth and when Lattermann hooked up his controller wrong in the fifth heat the race became even close.

Starting the last heat Rickard was in the lead, Lars Åberg, was second and Anders Lattermann was third. This was also how the race almost ended but in the last 30 seconds the order was changed due to some crashes and both Lars and Anders passed Rickard.

We had a really close finish the last race but this time it was even closer.
If any of the top three had had one more or one less fall off the places had been totally different.

In the total point standings Rickard Lundh is still in the lead.
