Jari Porttinen recorded a 1,548 lap on 15,9 volts and smashed
the old record.
One of the early qualifiers out were Jari who entered a track which looked
to be not that good in the view of what had been achieved by other racers.
He had an awesome motor and it was not a full punch lap. He let up, at least,
in two places. At the end of the straight the car sounded raw and the reason
for that was that the gear was broken. What a lap.
