My genealogy is in the form of descendant
charts and affects the Swedish provinces
Medelpad, Ångermanland and
Södermanland. I have a list of places and
families I am doing research on. I also have
some local history events from the Sundsvall
area that might have influenced my
ancestors in these parts. There is also an
article about Genealogy in Sweden.
•
Information about Swedish History and
especially Swedish Military History. The
latter is where I have a great deal of material
about the Allotment System (the old system
of organizing and financing the Swedish
Armed Forces).
Not all of the pages are translated into English
yet. But the table of contents will give you an idea
about the content of my pages. Pages in Swedish
are marked with the Swedish flag.

The Genealogy pages are about my genealogy
research.
The History pages are about Swedish history and
the Military pages about Swedish military history.

When doing genealogy research, you also get
interested in the times they lived in, especially from
a local history perspective. On my father's father's
side my ancestors originate from Ljustorp,
northwest of the city of Sundsvall.

At the large landed estates in Mälardalen (central
Sweden) it was very common to find a "statare"
(agricultural laborer receiving allowance (payment)
in kind). If you have ancestors in these parts, it's
very likely that you will come across an ancestor
that has been statare.
More about Statare.

Numbering of Ancestors
In order to keep track of your ancestors in a Family
chart you have to number them. There are many
different systems to number ancestors but the most
commonly used is the Hager's system.
Each generation after the start person gets a
generation number in Roman digits. The father and
mother to the start person are generation I. The
next generation, grand parents are generation II,
and the next generation III etc.
Each person in respective generations will be
numbered with Arab digits. You start with the father
and then the mother etc. Father is I-1, Mother I-2, FF
II-1, FM II-2, MF II-3, MM II-4, FFF III-1, FFM III-2, FMF
III-3, FMM III-4, MFF III-5, MFM III-6, MMF III-7, MMM
III-8 etc.
This is the system I use.
