Listening to the VLF-IE.
Are you familiar with basics in electronics and with a soldering iron, you can assemble a listening system during an evening spell.
You need the following things:
VLF22.jpg (45283 bytes) 5 meters of electrical wire to make the antenna and a stick to raise it right up in the sky.

A simple buffer to condition the antenna signal to the microphone input of a tape recorder.

A portable tape recorder.

Headphones.

A listening site, well away from powerlines. They act as huge transmitters of the main and its overtones.
