There are many things to do but |
A safe solar filter is mandatory |
Basic optical aids |
Photography |
|
Just look! The naked eye is an
excellent instrument! |
A welder's glass. Don't use
photographic film, what so ever! It isn't safe. It's the infrared (invisible) light that
destroys your retina. |
Binocular with a safe solarfilter
is easy to bring. And without filter reveals many intriguing details in the solar
atmosphere during totality |
Anything goes. Use your SLR-camera
with wide angle lenses as well as telephotolenses. Check that the film is not running out
during the totality. Don't forget to remove the solar filter in front of your camera
during totality! Let someone in your party shout a warning! If your camera is jamming.
Skip it! There are always nice pictures around, but your own experience may be lost. |
This is fine, if you can bring it! |
Measure the temperature of the air
during the whole event. You get a nice graph.
Measure the zenithal brightness change. |
