Eddy Bell (born July 12, 1941 in Chicago , Illinois , † May 21, 2012 ibid), also known as Eddy Blazonczyk , was an Americanrockabilly , rock 'n' roll and polka musician. After he played Rock'n'Roll as Eddy Bell in the 1950s and early 1960s, he was under his real name since 1963, one of the most famous polka musicians in the United States.
Childhood and Youth
Eddy Bell's parents came from the Tatra Mountains region of southern Poland but emigrated to the United States. Bell's parents both played in traditional polka groups, and Bell was deeply influenced by the music of Lil 'Wally, Steve Adamczyk, Eddie Zimas, Marion Lush, and Frank Yankovic. Robert George Pickett (February 11, 1938 – April 25, 2007), known by the pen name Bobby "Boris" Pickett, was an American singer, songwriter, actor and comedian known for co-writing and performing the 1962 hitnovelty song "Monster Mash."
Early life
Pickett was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on February 11, 1938. His father was a theater manager and as a nine-year-old, he watched many horror films. He would later incorporate impressions of them in his Hollywood nightclub act in 1959. An aspiring actor, Pickett began his musical career as a vocalist for a local swing band 'Darren Bailes and The Wolf Eaters'.
