A Scene in the Life: The Akha Hilltribe People

(April 14, 2004, Chiang Rai Hill Tribe Development and Welfare Center, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai)

Famous for its rolling landscape of mountains, Chiang Rai Province is populated with several ethnic groups of hilltribe people. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and related agencies in Chiang Rai jointly organize a light and sound show on January 24, 2004, at Chiang Rai Hill Tribe Development and Welfare Center, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai.
Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand, is known for its refreshing cool climate, its pristine natural beauty and colourful culture and traditions. Its mountainous slopes and valleys are home to several ethnic groups and tribal residents who have continued to maintain their distinctive cultural identity and indigenous way of life. The mystical Golden Triangle, an area where the borders of Thailand, Lao PDR and Myanmar converge, has captivated the attention and imagination of many. Chiang Rai is also one of Thailand's gateways to the neighbouring countries.
Highlights:

• Savour delicious hill tribe dishes in a forest setting
• A Scene In The Life: The Akha Hilltribe People Light-and-Sound Show.
